She couldn't stress enough the importance of preschool, but a new report released by Voices for Illinois Children says not everyone is going. It found one of the biggest reasons why is lack of funding.
Some public schools just can't afford it, or have become more selective about who can sign up. Lack of funding has also caused problems for enrollment. The report shows its dropped by about 20,000 over the past four years.
Parents like Gina Williams say that's sad to see, and hope the state will do more to help every kid get a head start. She says her son has made leaps and bounds by being in the early childhood education program.
