DEKALB -- It's been five years since the deadly shooting at Northern Illinois University. This was the scene of the tragedy.

Cole Hall now has five memorial stones in front of it to commemorate those lives taken too soon. Hundreds of students and faculty gathered there for the anniversary. Among them was the university president and Governor Pat Quinn.

Quinn remembers those lost while looking ahead. Along with the Cole Hall Memorial, the school also gives out memorial scholarships from the money donated by thousands of people.
