In Perspective: Spreading love

A Champaign doctor is spreading love everywhere she goes this Valentine's Day and every day.
She couldn't stop doing it, even if she tried.

She's tender, she's caring, and she always wants what's best for her patients.
You might even be compelled to call her Dr. Love.
But it's Dr. Shawn Love, to be exact.

"It is interesting when you call in perscriptions when you say 'Good morning, this is Dr. Love, I'm calling in a prescription for,' and they're like yeah right is this a practical joke?" she says.

It's out of love, that Dr. Love chose her profession. She made the decision after watching her father suffer through a painful death during his last two years of life.
"He spent two years battling his brain tumor and I was there for every appointment and everything that he went through. I knew that this is what I wanted to do,was to take care of other people," she says.

Dr. Love knows her patients struggle to recover, and that when they hurt their families hurt.
She knows that because she's been the patient.

"I found out that I had bi-lateral breast cancer and that I was pregnant with my first child on the very same day. I think that having overcome and surived so many things at this point in my life, that that makes me a better doctor, because i can really empathize with my patients."

Dr Love really does wear her heart on her sleeve...among other places, and she lives up to her name.
"I do things wholeheardedly and when I put my mind to something I do it with love and I have a great love for people and taking care of people. So, I think Dr. Love fits."
