Fenn convicted for June shooting

URBANA -- A complicated trial came to an end Thursday. The jury delivered its verdict for 23-year old Ardis Fenn.

The trial involved a star witness who was killed the day before he was set to testify. It didn't take the jury long to convict Fenn of aggravated battery for shooting Curtis Mosley in the leg in June.
Members deliberated about an hour.

Prosecutors were thrown a curve when Mosley was shot and killed. Lawyers had to start from scratch after the judge declared a mistrial.

A new jury was seated at the beginning of the week, but prosecutors were able to use Mosley's statements to police to convict Fenn. He has not been charged in Mosley's death, although authorities report witnesses identified him as the shooter. Police say the case is still under investigation.

URBANA -- A verdict has been reached in the week-long trial of a man accused of aggravated battery for a shooting in June. Ardis Fenn was convicted of shooting 29-year old Curtis Mosley in the leg.

Fenn's trial started last week, but a mistrial was declared when victim and star witness, Mosley, was killed the day before he was scheduled to testify.

The judge will sentence Fenn in March. Witnesses testified last week that Fenn was the man who shot and killed Mosley, but Fenn has not yet been charged with that murder.
