CHAMPAIGN -- Two people were hit and a police car sustained $1,000 damage from someone shooting a BB gun. About 2:00 am Wednesday, UI police say they were on a routine patrol when their squad car was hit. They then responded to reports of someone shooting a BB gun near the 700-block of South 4th Street.

The shots came from Sigma Chi Fraternity. Police checked the house and confiscated the gun but couldn't find the responsible party. Police say they don't think it was an innocent prank and a shooter could be charged with criminal damage to state property or aggravated battery.  Police say the University has been notified about the incident.
