There will be some big changes to the state's top offices. Sheila Simon announced she will not make another run for Lieutenant Governor.
She's had the post since 2010, but says it's time for her to do more. Instead, she wants a job where she can have a bigger impact. Experts say she could consider campaigns for Attorney General, Comptroller or Treasurer.
There's also talk Attorney General Lisa Madigan might run for governor. If she does, Simon would then likely run for Attorney General.
The race for governor is starting to shape up too. A new poll shows if the election happened today, we'd be voting for either democratic Attorney General Lisa Madigan or republican State Treasurer Dan Rutherford.
Governor Quinn currently trails Madigan in the polls by about 25-points. It shows his approval rating is hovering about 30% which is the lowest of any governor in the country.
