Unit 4 future in parents', students' hands

CHAMPAIGN -- Information from parents will help schools plan for the future.
One of the bigger issues facing parents, is if they would you support a tax hike.
Students, teachers and parents met with school administrators Tuesday. The district is asking the community for feedback on which schools need renovations. But with tight budgets, it wants to know which one school it should look at.
The questionnaire also asks whether parents would be willing to pay higher taxes. One student is hoping for big changes at Central High School.
"The next generation needs to be able to have good learning fields to be able to learn in. Obviously Central is a pretty dismal school right now, not in a very good condition. It's of high importance right now to get something changed," senior Ryan Hunt said.
Unit 4 is currently using a 1% county sales tax to pay for recent projects. A $25.00 hike last summer pays for air conditioning, transportation and internet service.
