Lincoln Hall rededicated

URBANA -- People on the University of Illinois campus are excited about a renovation project that's years in the making. Lincoln Hall was rededicated Tuesday, exactly 100 years after its first dedication.
The work was finished in the fall. Some students never knew what it was like before all the changes. The building was closed for three years while workers did the renovations. It officially opened again this past fall. Now when you look inside, historic artifacts are together with new technology.
One of the biggest examples of that is inside the theater. New seats were installed there but the side panels and artwork is all original, just a little refurbished.
Another place that changed a lot was the fourth floor of the building. That was originally the Spurlock Museum. Many of the skylights had been boarded up. Now they've been cleaned and graduate students have space to work.
The classrooms got some significant upgraded technology. The last time there was a major renovation was in 1929. The foyer has a lot of new upgrades. The marble floors were polished with a diamond brush. Workers scraped layers of paint from the walls so they could match the color with the way it was originally built. People who work there said they've been looking forward to this a long time. School leaders said the project was finished on-time and under-budget.
