SPRINGFIELD -- The fact that our state is in debt is no secret to anyone. Now the state treasurer is cutting his own budget to save money.

In 2012, Dan Rutherford cut the treasure's budget by 2%. He now wants to cut another 3% from the 2014 budget.

The treasurer's funding has not been that low since 1999. Rutherford has also made changes in his staff, closed satellite offices and cut down his vehicle fleet.
