Speeches like this always cover a range of issues, but the biggest is likely to be finances. It's a topic which is extremely important to the state.
The nation's debt and spending have a direct impact on Illinois' future. The state is struggling and depends on a lot of federal dollars to survive.
Experts say, if the President can't rally lawmakers together and get the nation's budget under control, we'll all feel the pain. As it stands, we're due for $85 billion in cuts nationwide starting March 1. That's why some say Tuesday night's speech is going to be one of his most important ever.
Gun control will be another topic of concern. The President wants a federal ban on assault weapons. He's also expected to cover immigration and jobs. The speech will air at 8 pm on WCIA-3.
