fireThe owners of a local recycling center are sorting through the debris.. after a fire destroyed their warehouse.. for the second time. Last night.. fire fighters were called to the 33-hundred block of Terminal Road in Springfield to battle the blaze. This used to be F & W Recycling Center.. but now it looks more like a landfill..and the owner has been through this before. "I know what it is to put back and that's the scary part at this point," said Owner Faye Weekly. Weekly says when she received the call from the fire department..she wasn't too concerned. "It hadn't been that long since we'd been gone so I thought naw it couldn't be that bad..but little did I know." That for the second time in five years... fire destroyed her family's warehouse ..and for the second time.. they'll have to rebuild. "It's not guessing..it's pretty much knowing that we're going to be down for an extended period of time..you know how much the clean-up is..time wise you know." Even though this fire started nearly 24 hours ago..firefighter's are still here at F and W Resources putting out the flames. And the owners pitched in to help firefighters go through tons of smoldering debris.. and put out lingering flames. Firefighters say there is nearly a million dollars in damage. "The buildings will be totally useless..they've been totally destroyed..the metal is deformed to the point where they will have to take this structure down to rebuild," said Division Chief Bob Reside. The owners don't know how long it'll take to get things back to normal..but they're optimistic they'll be in business again.
