Updated: March 9, 2007
DECATUR-Decatur Police say alcohol may have played a role in the death of an 11 month old baby girl. The Macon County Coroner identified the baby girl as Emma Hilton. She was found unresponsive yesterday in a bath tub in a home on Brownlow Drive on the city's southside.
Police report that the mother was also found unresponsive in the bath tub with the baby. It's how they got there that has police asking questions.
The coroner says the cause of the baby's death is undetermined and he is waiting for the results of more tests and a toxicology screening from the baby.
Police say it was the grandmother who found the baby and the mother and called for help.
Family members have been questioned by police. Investigators will not say where the mother is but they are in contact with her.
