CNN --- Saturday mail service will soon be a thing of the past. The U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday, it will stop first-class mail delivery on Saturdays beginning August 1. However, it says packages will still be delivered on Saturdays.

The move is expected to save $2 billion a year. The agency also plans to implement a number of other cost-cutting measures.
