URBANA -- The University of Illinois has a new crime-fighting team on campus. The university police captain said it's a two-man crew. They started their new assignments a couple weeks ago.

The pair already worked for the department and each day can be completely different for them. They could be on patrol one day, go undercover the next and work as detectives after that.

"They're concentrating strictly on hot calls or hot activities that are going on at that particular time," said University Police Captain Roy Acree.

The team has already been involved in a $30,000 drug bust on campus. Authorities said this is a trial program but it has been working well so far. Police said it's just another way to curb crime on campus.
