PONTIAC -- More than 40-inmates at Pontiac Correctional Center are staging a hunger strike. A Chicago activist group says the prisoners have no heat, and they're being denied personal hygiene supplies.

They're also upset they have to pay a fee to use nail clippers shared by all inmates. Correctional officers say they're monitoring the health of all prisoners refusing to eat.

PONTIAC -- Inmates in Livingston County are staging a hunger strike to protest prison conditions. They're being held in the Pontiac Correctional Center.

Many were moved from Tamms. Governor Quinn closed that prison last month.

Chicago-based Uptown People's Law Center reports the inmates are asking the prison to return their private property and remove plexiglass covering the front of their cells. They also claim they're being treated differently than other inmates.
