CHAMPAIGN -- City leaders could get spring cleaning done this winter! Council members will vote on a plan Tuesday night which could declare some items "surplus."

Old light posts, bricks and benches are sitting in storage which costs the city to have items moved and stored. Council members could vote to make about $28,000 worth of those items available for auction, donation or recycling, basically giving everything a second life.

The city has done something similar before. There was a giveaway in December for non-profits. Money brought in from selling or recycling surplus goes into the city's general revenue account.
