CHAMPAIGN -- A woman is being recognized for her work in the community. Home Builders gave her the "Volunteer of the Year" award. She's Taking Action by donating her time.

Joni Utnage has served on several committees, even chairing one of them. Utnage's work at Busey Bank is how she became involved with the Home Builder's Association of East Central Illinois.

She says the group does projects to help the area's housing industry, which, in turn, has a huge effect on the community. That's why she first got involved.

The Homebuilder's Association says the award is a pretty big deal. It says Utnage is always willing to step up and her work is helping the group improve Champaign-Urbana.
