CHAMPAIGN -- An Illini-alum turned Globetrotter is now taking a crack at the red carpet. Mannie Jackson: Boxcar to Boardroom" movie premiered at the Art Theater Saturday.
It's a Big 10 Network Documentary. It shows how one athlete's determination fueled his basketball dreams.
Jackson played for the Harlem Globetrotters after graduating from UI. He then became the first African-American to own the team.
The film airs February 18, on the Big 10 Network. Jackson has also written a book by the same name.
