3 seriously injured in attack

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- Police are investigating an aggravated battery involving mob action. It happened Saturday, January 19, just after 2 am.

Three men who had recently left Joe's Brewery were walking near Fourth and Green streets when a group of 8 - 10 men began yelling at them from across the street. When the group of three crossed the intersection, they were jumped from behind by the larger group.

All three were viciously attacked with punches and kicks to their heads. The victims sustained severe injuries ranging from a lost tooth to a broken jaw and broken nose.

The suspects are black men, 19 - 20 years old, about 6', 190 lbs. All were clean shaven and wearing jeans. One was wearing a black baseball cap with a red bill, possibly a Chicago Bulls hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
