DECATUR -- Bitterly cold temperatures and no one wants to be outside. But, what if you didn't have anywhere to go?

People at the Salvation Army are making sure everyone is warm. They put together emergency shelters specifically for nights like this.

11 degrees mixed with high winds. No matter your financial status, people at the Salvation Army say no one should have to endure it, so they filled their training room with 25-extra cots. Each has a blanket and pillow.

Normally the shelter holds 25 people. But, now, because of the bitter temperatures, nearly 60 are staying here. Anyone spending the night in the emergency shelter also gets dinner and breakfast.

So far, the Salvation Army hasn't had to turn anyone away. It's something they plan on continuing for years to come. They say this year, the emergency shelter will probably be open until March or April.
