PEORIA -- A former investment adviser out of Urbana will serve 12 1/2 years in federal prison.
Timothy J. Roth, 57, of Stonington, was sentenced Thursday in Peoria.
He admitted that from May 2004 through March 2011, he defrauded eleven victims, including companies and individual victims, of more than $16 million.
At the time, he worked for a money-management firm in Champaign.
Roth was ordered to pay that money back to victims of his fraud.
Court documents say he took money from clients and liquidated the shares back into companies.
Roth is set to begin serving time in prison on April 2nd.
