SPRINGFIELD -- Two robberies in two weeks may be related. Police say a unique part of the suspect's description seems to be the same.

Investigators say the suspect walked into the Travel Lodge on South 6th Saturday, January 19. They say he was wearing all black with gloves and a hooded sweatshirt on backwards. Matt Goulet with Springfield Police says, "So the hood pulled up over his face and he had eye holes cut out."

Goulet says that was similar to a description given in an armed robbery earlier this week at the Circle K on Clock Tower and Monroe. In the robbery at the hotel, the clerk was told to get down on the ground and the suspect took off with the cash box. Both robberies were early in the morning.

If you know anything about this man, call Sangamon Menard County Crime Stoppers at 788-8427. Or text Tip672 plus your information and send it to CRIMES. Or log on. You don't have to give your name and you could get a cash reward.
