Weather Vault: 1/30/13 Severe Storms

A strong cold front pushed through central Illinois on Tuesday night, bringing mostly heavy rain to the area. There were a few damage reports, but were located in generally just one area. The severe weather was much worse in southern Illinois, Missouri, and Indiana.

Storm Reports
Coles County
Ashmore - 64 power poles were knocked down from strong winds along Illinois Route 16 near Ashmore. There was roofing damage on three buildings on the southwest side of town. Three empty grain bins were also damaged just north of town. Here is the story we did on the damage.
Effingham County
Altamont - A large overhead down was blown out at the ADM plant at 9:15 PM. There was also a reprt of a tree blown over and through the roof of a house in Altamont. At 9:33 there was a report of a Semi trailer blown over on I-57 at mile marker 165.
Effingham - A 53 mph wind gust was recorded in Effingham along with heavy rains.
Mason - Numerous power lines were blown down at 9:30 PM.
