CHARLESTON -- A man faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing items from the County Market in the 500-block of Lincoln. Police say 24-year Christopher Phillips was suspected of taking items from the grocery store without paying for them Friday.

Employees detained Phillips until police arrived. Afterwards, employees found a small-caliber handgun where Phillips had been sitting.

Police say the weapon was reported stolen from an earlier car burglary. Police say they're investigating if Phillips is involved in other vehicle burglaries. Among the charges Phillips is facing are burglary and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
