URBANA -- A landlord made apartments safe again after several violations were found. Three properties owned by BZ Management had several fire safety problems.

They're located along Philo, Silver and Fletcher streets. Dozens of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were broken or missing.

Urbana's fire chief says the landlord faced criminal charges if he didn't fix them. He learned about the violations Friday. The chief says all the detectors were back in place after an inspection Monday.
