GIBSON CITY -- A small-town city council is going green by going high tech. Council members were trained to use iPads before Monday night's meeting.

The mayor says it will help save money on paper and postage. Maps and important files will be on the iPads instead of being printed. He also hopes it improves communication between the council and the community thanks to email.

"I think a lot of communities are going to go towards this," said Mayor Daniel Dickey. "I think we're maybe first in the area. I think eventually you'll see all communities go this way. It's just proven technology and we're putting it to use here at city council."

Twelve iPads were bought totaling about $6,000. The mayor estimates they'll pay for themselves in about four years.
