URBANA -- City leaders sympathized with neighbors in the Ellis Subdivision. Residents hope to get more help with costly sewer problems.

The pipes are old and tree roots have grown into the system. They currently get reimbursed up to $3,000.

City leaders discussed raising that amount at Monday night's meeting. They're also looking into an insurance fee to help homeowners cover the costs.

URBANA -- Living on the wrong side of the street comes at a much higher cost for people in one neighborhood. Monday night, the city council will review its policy on homeowner reimbursements.

People in the Ellis Subdivision hope to get more help with costly sewer problems. The pipes are old and tree roots have grown into the system. Dozens of homeowners have had their sewer lines dug up.

But, it costs more for those living on the south side of the street because the sewer runs on the north side. Homeowners are responsible for sewers running under their properties. The city will pay for half the cost to tear up and replace the street, but only up to $3,000.
