DANVILLE -- Native Dick Van Dyke was honored at Sunday night's SAG Awards. He was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The 87-year old actor graduated from Danville High School in 1944 and has returned several times. People here say they're proud to see someone from their community be so successful.

Students and teachers are following in Van Dyke's footsteps with their theater program. The school's auditorium is named after him as well.

Van Dyke is probably best known for his hit TV show in the 60's and his role in the Disney musical, Mary Poppins.
