SPRINGFIELD -- A new Illinois law will give illegal immigrants a legal way to drive. Governor Quinn signed a bill Sunday allowing them to get a temporary visitor's drivers license.

While it allows an illegal immigrant to drive, it can not be used as a valid ID. It also won't work if the driver isn't insured. Applicants must have lived in Illinois for at least a year.

Secretary of State Jesse White says it will make roads in the state safer because applicants will be tested and must have insurance. The TVDL's won't be available for 10-months.
