Twenty-five students awarded for best essays

CHAMPAIGN -- People celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. His holiday was officially Monday.

Students submitted more than 200 essays and pieces of art for a competition addressing MLK Day topics. Saturday, 25-students were recognized for their work.

Gloria Park and Mayahuel Malik are best friends at Stratton Elementary School. They started working on their essays in September.

Camesha Braddy was honored for having the best artwork. She made a charcoal drawing.
