CHAMPAIGN -- A volunteer program is benefiting those who need and those who give. Frederick Neumann and Carolyn Dixon are both part of Faith in Action.

Through it, Neumann became a companion for home-bound Dixon. With a few giving actions, he's had a big impact on her life, and he continues Taking Action.

The program matches volunteers with the elderly. Seniors need help with lots of things from getting to doctor's appointments to cleaning up their homes. It might not seem like a lot, but it means everything to those on the receiving end.

Dixon has dialysis appointments weekly and needs a lot of help getting there and back. Neumann has been driving her there for the past five years. She says he's always there for her to lean on and has become like family.

That's not all Neumann does. He also volunteers for Empty Tomb and the Red Cross.

To volunteer for Faith in Action, you must have a valid driver's license and insurance card. Additional information sessions are scheduled.
