Watching for animal abuse

LINCOLN -- Humane investigators are on the look out for animal abuse this winter. Dawn Gorman, is one of those investigators. She says they tend to see more cases in Logan County when the temperatures drop.
One of the biggest complaints they respond to is an animal not having adequate shelter. Another, is the water bowl being frozen.
She says there a few ways to keep your pet safe during the winter. For example, bring them in the house. Also, put straw in the dog house instead blankets. And make sure they have enough water and food at all times.
Avoid washing your pet during the winter too. Their hide takes three days to dry. If you do want to wash their fur, use animal wipes instead.
