PAXTON -- A preservation group plans to save an historic building. The Paxton Foundation offered to buy a 19th century jail and sheriff's home.

Ford County officials planned on tearing the buildings down. They feel it has no use and will continue to deteriorate, but the foundation's president thinks otherwise.

He says ideas for what the building will be used for have not been discussed. The contract must be submitted to the county board by February 1.
