U of I students meet goal for smart plant product

CHAMPAIGN -- University of Illinois students reached their fundraising goal to create a smart plant sensor. Their product is called Plant Link.

Sensors in the soil can tell home gardeners when they need to water their plants. The group wanted to reach $75,000. They already passed that.

If they can raise more, they hope to add special features. Those could include making it battery-powered or having different colors.
