DANVILLE -- A leak in water coils in the basement of the high school caused the building to go into a bit of a deep freeze. Classes got off to a chilly start.

The school had problems with the heat. WCIA-3's Jessica Shaw finds out what crews are doing to get things working.

Workers spent all morning trying to get the heat back on by the time class started Tuesday morning. It's a big school, so, of course, it took some time to warm up. The problem was found in the basement. The cold caused a leak in the water coil, forcing the boilers to shut down. All of it happened sometime Monday night.

Now that they know where the problem is, they worked on getting it fixed. School officials say they try to keep classrooms about 72 degrees. They were able to achieve that by lunchtime with the exceptions of the gym and locker rooms.

Officials hope to have everything fixed by Wednesday morning. District leaders say students were never in any danger of freezing.

Due to the boiler problems, Tuesday night's basketball game between Danville and Urbana high schools is rescheduled for Monday in Danville. The sophomore game starts at 6 pm and the varsity at 7:30 pm.
