BLOOMINGTON -- New details are surfacing about the murder of a 16-year old. It's the city's first homicide of the year.

Authorities say Kuantrae Massey died Monday afternoon from a gunshot wound. The shooting happened at the apartment complex where he lived.

Massey's social studies teacher says he was one of his top students, getting A's in class. His untimely death has left many unanswered questions.

Staff say they always try to encourage students to make smart, safe choices in and out of school. No arrests have been made in the case. The school says counselors will be on hand Wednesday to help students cope.
