People are creating new identities in the virtual world "Second Life." University of Illinois professor Sharon Tettegah is one of them. In real life, she is a single woman, but online, she's a different version of herself. She's Amma, a married professor, and she's making real money by selling virtual real estate. Tettegah also uses this online world to teach her class at the U of I. She bought an island online with real grant money, and the students used it to create their own education systems. Graduate student Kona Taylor says, "If there's chemistry experiments to where you either can't afford the chemicals or worried students may hurt themselves, you can create those kinds of environments in Second Life to where they could play around with it an wouldn't get hurt" Students also came up with their own curriculum in this online world and even watched a parent-teacher conference happen.
