CHAMPAIGN CO. -- A major copper theft ring was busted Saturday. Police arrested Verles Bolton, 46 and Krystal Malone, 27, of Champaign. The pair was found a home in the 500-block of W. Beardsley Avenue during a search warrant.

Police later located Kendall Andrews, 33, of Urbana and arrested him. All three face felony charges for criminal damage to property.

Investigators say the trio would steal copper and other metals with hopes of cashing them in. Police estimate the group stole or damaged more than $100,000 worth of property in just in the past six months.
