Witnesses describe the explosion like a loud firecracker. People as far away as five blocks felt the ground underneath them shake. Abbie Hunhoff says she " thought it was an earthquake." Neighbor Christine Monetti describes it like, "the whole house shook. It felt like it was shaking off the foundation it was scary cuz there was no clue what was going on." What they felt was a house exploding. It scattered debris and glass onto the streets and houses nearby. Monetti says when she walked outside her house, she could see the fire, smoke, and no signs of the house. Witnesses say they saw a man walk out of the house.. screaming for help.
The victim was rushed to the hospital with more than 50-percent of his body burned. Fire investigators say when the victim was found,  "he was very dazed, burnt and incoherent." Only a few walls of his house are left standing. Neighbors say they are still surprised anyone could survive this explosion, "i can't see how someone made it out alive."
