Neighborhood recycling on the rise

URBANA -- Recycling is on the rise among families in Urbana.The city says they've seen a 24 percent increase in recyclables collected last year. For single family households taking part in the curbside U-Cycle program:
"We utilize University of Illinois volunteers to door-hang the apartment sand once we do that we see a rise in recyclables collected," said Rushforth.
The city is also looking into expanding its recycling program.
- Crews collected 2,375 tons of recycling in 2012
- Compare to that 2011, when crews only got 1,866 tons of recyclables.
- 831 tons of recycling was collected last year
- Back in 2011, 685 tons of recycling was collected.
