State leaders weigh in on gun ban

Springfield-- According to Governor Quinn, Illinois should lead the way in gun control. In fact, he doesn't want to wait for Congress to take action. 

Some lawmakers are in support of the ban on assault weapons with two proposals already making their way through the Capitol.  Sue Scherer of Decatur says not so fast. 

"The courts came out with saying you know we do have a second amendment and we have to abide by that so I agree with that and secondly  you know, the reason to be a representative is to represent the people that live in your district.  and the majority of the people in my district felt that way," said Scherer. 

Last year Governor Quinn tried to pass an assault weapon ban, but lawmakers voted it down.
