ATLANTA, GA -- A Christmas wish came true for an 8-year-old girl from Mahomet. She got to meet her soldier pen pal in Atlanta.

We first introduced you to Sophie Deck last week. She started writing to her soldier when she was in second grade. Sophie said she already considered her soldier her best friend and her hero. Now she finally got to meet her in person.

Sophie and her grandma flew to Atlanta on Wednesday. That's where they met up with Sophie's pen pal, Veronica Davis. Veronica had some presents for Sophie. And Sophie was able to share her All About Me book with her soldier. That was one of the things she got for Christmas. Sophie's mom has been documenting all their fun on a Facebook page. Sophie will be in Atlanta for about a week.
