RIVERTON -- Governor Quinn's budget forecast for the state isn't looking too good for education. Schools are expected to lose out on millions next year.

The reason, as he points out, the soaring pension costs. He says something needs to be done to help reform the systems.

Riverton School District Superintendent Tom Mulligan agrees. He says they've already had to make big cuts, and are preparing to make even more because of this.

If education cuts aren't a big enough threat for lawmakers, they're also battling a credit downgrade by Fitch Ratings. The agency has given them six months to vote on a plan to solve the pension crisis.
