Threat prompts changes at high school
Updated: January 15, 2013
ST. JOESPH -- Yesterday's threat has already
prompted some changes at St. Joe-Ogden High School.
It has a new rule now for open lunch. Students
coming back must now walk through the main doors on the east side of the
building. They used to walk in through the cafeteria doors on the north.
The superintendent says this lets the
front office have a better view of who is entering the school and keeps threats
further away from students.
"If someone were to enter the
building through that unlocked door which again is just a very brief time that
that is unlocked, they'd enter essentially an empty hallway and wouldn't be
walking into a cafeteria with 200-300 kids in it," said superintendent Jim Acklin.
Acklin says open lunch can also be
cancelled for the day if they feel students might be in danger.
