U of I fees could go up again
Updated: January 15, 2013
Several increases have already been proposed to the University of Illinois trustees this week. That includes the service fee, general fee, health fee and student initiated fees. All together, it adds up to a 1% change, with students paying about $30 extra for the academic year. That's for the campus at Urbana-Champaign.
Undergraduate housing rates would also go up 3%. The exact dollar amount would be different depending on where the students live and what kind of meal plan they have, but it could be up to a couple hundred dollars.
The board of trustees still needs to approve these rates at a meeting next week. That's when a tuition increase will be brought up as well. The vice president for academic affairs said they don't know how much of an increase that will be.
