SPRINGFIELD -- A new group of lawmakers went to work in Springfield Thursday to take on our state's same old issues.

Lawmakers were sworn in Wednesday and the excitement is already wearing off. They are wasting no time getting down to business. Almost all of our state's lawmakers were back at the Capitol Thursday. There was not much done in terms of bills or votes, but lawmakers say they were getting organized so they can be more efficient this year.

The newest lawmakers spend their day learning the ropes. They say even though they are brand new, they'll get the work done on bigger issues like pensions.

The full House and Senate are not set to meet again until early February. They will use the time between now and then to meet on their own and come up with more ideas for our state.
