Lawmakers adjourn with no pension solution

Updated: January 9, 2013
(Springfield) - Lawmakers adjourned today without a fix for the pension system.
There's still a proposal that could eventually bring solutions though.
Governor Quinn is calling for a "pension commission."
It'd be made up of eight people.
And they'd get time to brainstorm how to fix our pension systems.
Governor Quinn presented the idea to a group of lawmakers today.
They haven't been able to agree on a fix all year.
So Quinn says letting a smaller group work it out is the best way to go.
They'd have until April 30th to make a plan.
Then lawmakers would have 30 days to decide on it.
Quinn says it'll be kind of like a jury -- and will help get us out of our pension mess once and for all.
Critics say solutions to the pension crisis are already well behind and this only delays it further.
