URBANA - The Champaign County Humane Society knows how important it is to spay and neuter your pets.

It's why they've got several program to help low-income families. They're offering discounts for both cats and dogs. The procedure usually costs over $100, but owners can get it done for half the cost.

"We have been working with other agents in the community to make sure we find a way," said Mary Tiefenbrunn, the executive director at Champaign County Humane Society. "It's for families who can't afford it, but want to make sure they are good, responsible pet owners."

The humane society says the biggest problem is kittens. Hundreds are brought in every year.
