CHAMPAIGN -- People  went back in time today and brought the 1700's to life.

This is all part of the 26th annual January Jam. The Urbana country dancers put on the dance weekend.

People were taught how to do the traditional waltz, then put their new techniques to work on the dance floor.

Organizers say it's all to bring tradition back to central Illinois.

"It allows community to happen and for music and dance to be live. It creates a self esteem within individuals and a trust between." Organizer Jan Kalmar said.

The Urbana country dancers get together three Fridays a month. Head to http://www.urbanaparks.org/ to find out more.
