Marathon participation getting higher

Updated: April 2, 2013
One of the city's biggest events is getting off to a running start. This year more people have signed up for the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon than last year.

More than 8,100 are already committed to attend. Marathon organizers says it shows the community's growing support and pushes them to make the event even better.

"It just makes us realize how precious the event is, how hard we have to work every year to maintain the quality. Up our anty and add some new wrinkles," says Seeley.

Seeley says there are a few additions this year, mainly to the post race meal. Buca di Beppo will be added to the menu for 5k runners.
